Moldavite is a rare, olive-green gemstone formed about 15 million years ago from the intense heat and pressure of a meteorite impact in what is now the Czech Republic. Unlike most crystals, it is a natural glass (a type of tektite), created when terrestrial rock was melted and rapidly cooled as it was ejected into the atmosphere. Moldavite is prized for its unique, etched surface texture and translucent green color, ranging from pale moss to deep forest tones. Because of its limited origin and otherworldly formation, it is considered both a geological rarity and a highly collectible mineral.
