Yooperlite is a trade name for a type of syenite found along the shores of Lake Superior, especially in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. What makes it special is its bright glow under UV light, caused by fluorescent sodalite embedded within the stone. Yooperlites formed deep underground as molten rock slowly cooled, creating the coarse-grained structure of syenite. Over time, geological processes and glacial movement brought these stones to the surface and scattered them along the lake’s shoreline, where they’re now discovered and admired for their hidden, glowing patterns.

Because these pieces come from the earth, there may be some discoloring known as inclusions. These are totally natural and normal for crystals and minerals, and makes every piece extra special.
